The ALEXANDRA Association is proud to announce that its Scientific Advisory Board and Operational Team was recently expanded by new members.
Professor Dr. Howard Maibach
Dr. Howard Maibach is an expert in contact and occupational dermatitis. His specialty is dermatotoxicology and skin exposure toxicity. Prof Maibach has been on the editorial board of more than 30 scientific journals and is a member of 19 professional societies including the American Academy of Dermatology, San Francisco Dermatological Society and the Internal Commission on Occupation Health. He is a professor in the Department of Dermatology at University of San Francisco, California, USA. His bibliography includes over 2500 publications. More information.
Dr. Béatrice Levarlet
Dr. Levarlet is a European registered toxicologist and EUROTOX expert in alternative methods to animal testing. She has over 20 years experience in skin and eye research in cosmetic industry and has been co-author of more than 30 scientific papers. She also acts as a reviewer for several journals in the field of dermatology and in vitro toxicology. More information.
Dr. Sonja Beken
Dr. Beken is the coordinator of the Unit of non-clinical evaluators within the Belgian Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (FAMHP). As expert in regulatory science, in vitro toxicology and metabolism as well as alternative models to animal experiments, she also chairs an expert group on the 3R’s at the European Medicines Agency EMA. In addition, we are also proud to announce that Mr. Benoit De Wilde has joined the team of Associates
Mr. De Wilde has over 20 years of experience in human tissue engineering and was the former Director of Tissue Production at SkinEthic Laboratories in Nice and later at L’Oréal in Lyon. Benoit will be responsible for the ALEXANDRA educational laboratories that will start organizing training sessions on tissue reconstruction (skin, eye and mucosa) on a regular basis in the fall of 2012.
